Arroyo Seco has been named a Distinguished School by the California Department of Education.  This honor is given to the top performing schools in the state of California.  This is the equivalent of receiving an A+ on the final exam.   I am so proud to be the principal of such a fine school where student learning comes first.  Please see the press release and the link to the Patch article below for more information.

State Schools Chief Tom Torlakson Announces 2012 California Distinguished Schools

SACRAMENTO—State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Torlakson today announced that Arroyo Seco was named a 2012 California Distinguished Schools for their innovative education programs that encourage students to learn and help close the achievement gap.

“The schools we are recognizing today demonstrate the incredible commitment of California’s teachers, administrators, and school employees to provide a world-class education to every student, in spite of the financial hardships facing our state and our schools,” Torlakson said. “Their dedication is inspiring, and I applaud and admire their passion and persistence.

Buy items with the Box Tops logo on them, and send it in to your child's teacher. ASPTA gets 10 cents for every Box Top submitted, so start saving and send them in!

Campbell's Soup labels
Save the labels from Campbell's Soup, or the UPC from Pepperidge Farms Cookies and Goldfish crackers, and Seco benefits!

Tyson Chicken
Clip and save the A+ labels from Tyson frozen chicken, and send them in. The school gets 24 cents for each one - it's that simple!

Printer cartridge recycling
Bring in your old toner cartridges for recycling, which is good for Mother Earth, and the teachers get gift cards to different office supply stores, which is good for our teachers.
