PTA Chairpersons needed for 2013-14 school year

If you love the family activities and programs our PTA provides for Seco please consider volunteering to chair a student activity or fundraiser next year.  As your PTA, we would love to continue to provide monetary support for our teachers and staff as well as extra curricular activities for our students, but we need your help! Click here to see a list of chairperson positions we need filled for next year.  If you see something you would like to help out with, or want additional information,  Please contact Jennifer Silva.

Last week of school info-

Schedule for June 10 - June 12 (Monday - Wednesday)  

Grades 1-5:  8:30am-1:30pm     Kindergarten: 8:30am-12:30pm (no lunch for K)

June 13  Last Day of school  All grades :  8:30am- 12:30pm  no lunch services.

June 13 is field day for grades k-4.  Activities will take place between 9am and 11am.  

5th grade promotion will take place June 13 from 11:15am - 12:15pm.  Doors will open at 11.

End of year reminders:

Medications- if your child has medication, inhalers, or epi-pens in the nurse's office,  make arrangements to pick up meds. by June 12.

Clothing-  All unclaimed clothing will be donated to a local charity on June 13.  Check the lost and found in the MPR room before then.

Moving-  If you are moving during the summer and have not notified the office, or your child's teacher,  please contact the office by June 13

The Arroyo Seco Office will be closed June 24-Aug. 2.  We will reopen Monday, Aug. 5.  Office hours will be 8am to 4pm.

School will begin on Wednesday, August 21 for the 2013-14 school year.

Box tops for books - Wednesdays in May beginning  May 15  click the link for collection form.

Open House and Art Walk  May 23 click the link to see the event flyer.  Open house will be from 6:30 - 7:30pm,  Art Walk silent auction will be in the MPR from 6:30-8pm the same evening, however the art work will be on display after school May 20-23 from 2:30 - 3pm for a sneak peak.

2013-14 Orientation Day

Arroyo Seco's Orientation day for the 2013-14 school year will be held on August 15, 2013 from 9am-12pm, 1pm-5pm and 6pm-8pm.

Orientation packets will be available for pick up from the office about a week prior to orientation day.  Please be on the look out for further information as the date nears.  We will also be looking for volunteers to help with the event.  Signups will be available through Jooners as well as in the office prior to the event.

Arroyo Seco has made the eScrip Honor Roll.

Thanks to your hard work and commitment, Arroyo Seco's earnings are in the top 5% of all 50,000 participating eScrip organizations.  A special thanks to Kathy for her work on this program.

Alameda County Fair

The County fair is running June 19 - July 7 (closed Mondays)  at the Pleasanton Fair Grounds.  Click here for a flyer of children's activities that will be offered at the fair this year.

 

Final PTA meeting of the year

We are combining our May and June regular association meetings into one, which will take place on Thursday, May 30th. As our last meeting of the year, we will be voting on the new budget for next school year, releasing all unspent funds from this year back into the general fund and voting on summer spending. The meeting will be held Thursday, May 30th at 7:00 in the Arroyo Seco library. Please join us if you can.

Yard duty

Arroyo Seco is looking for parents to work as yard duties.  They can apply at the district office.  Also,  a quick reminder 5th graders that want to participate in the valet program,  your permission slips are due Friday.

Think of the "fundraisers" we could eliminate if you used these programs!  No extra cost to you!  Seco earns money with your everyday shopping!!

Register your club card and Safeway will donate a portion of each club card receipt back to Seco!
We are earning an average of $400 month with 30% participation!  Imagine if we had 100% participation - at least $1300 a month!!

Shop Luckys?
Ask how you can get a Luckys SHARES cards and swipe it every time you shop at Luckys and ASPTA gets a percentage of your sales.

Box Tops
Buy items with the Box Tops logo on them, and send it in to your child's teacher. ASPTA gets 10 cents for every Box Top submitted, so start saving and send them in!

Campbell's Soup labels
Save the labels from Campbell's Soup, or the UPC from Pepperidge Farms Cookies and Goldfish crackers, and Seco benefits!

Tyson Chicken
Clip and save the A+ labels from Tyson frozen chicken, and send them in. The school gets 24 cents for each one - it's that simple!

Printer cartridge recycling
Bring in your old toner cartridges for recycling, which is good for Mother Earth, and the teachers get gift cards to different office supply stores, which is good for our teachers. Work at a company that has lots of old cartridges lying around? See if you can bring those to school as well. Click here  for the flyer for more information.
