Click on the category link below for a brief overview of programs and support provided:

Beautification -
At the beginning of each school year, parent and student volunteers work on school beautification. Past projects included painting, a variety of flower plantings, new banners outside classrooms, and new logo painted on the front of the school.

Carnival Safety Fair - This annual event is open to the public and includes a day of games, food, and live entertainment. Fun for the Arroyo Seco families and the Livermore community.

Orientation Dinner - ASPTA organizes and manages this August event before the first day of school. It's an opportunity for parents to pick-up their class assignments, school and district forms, welcome and supply list letters from teachers, and purchase grade-specific items. The dinner provides parents to meet each other, reconnect with friends, and enjoy dinner, drink, and dessert.

Family Fun Nights - ASPTA sponsors various events throughout the year. Past events included Movie Night, Karaoke, and an end of year dance! Join the fun for free!

Ice Cream/Popcorn - Wednesdays, the PTA offers ice cream and popcorn for sale at 50 cents each (twin pops are still 25 cents).

School Spirit Wear - Show your school spirit! Both students and parents are invited to purchase our Arroyo Seco shirts and sweatshirts. Every Friday is Spirit Day, so be sure to wear your shirts! Your class could win a party!

Cruisin' Colts Running Club - A program to encourage students (and their families) to walk and/or run. A running track is available on set days after school. Runners (walkers) can win prizes based on mileage completed.

Emergency Preparedness - ASPTA assists the school in ensuring that safety materials, such as emergency food and water, are stored and current.

Valet - ASPTA parent volunteers along with the Colt Club Student Leadership team, patrols the traffic during the morning and guides drivers and pedestrians to school safely.

Classroom Parent - ASPTA offers a grade-level representative to ensure communication flows between school and home. They can also be a resource to parents within a specific grade level.

Legislation Updates - ASPTA provides information to parents about current issues in education legislation, usually via the Round-Up. The ASPTA also will occasionally mail information to parents including its position on current ballot measures; most recently the parcel tax renewal ($11.50/month) and School Board Candidates Forum.

Parent Education - ASPTA offers parent ed sessions throughout the year.

PTA Meetings - Come to a PTA General Meeting and find out what's going on around school. Have a question? Attend a meeting and ask your PTA or Principal. PTA meetings are a great way to voice your opinion about the school and become informed.

Round-Up - ASPTA publishes the twice a month newsletter during the school year. A great resource for parents to know what's going on around school. The Round-Up goes home with the youngest child of the family. The most current issue can be viewed in the glass display outside the Library or on the website.

School Directory - ASPTA creates a school directory featuring a listing of those students whose parents have agreed to be in the directory.

School Handbook - New this year, ASPTA will create an online handbook to answer all your questions regarding Arroyo Seco: policies, events, and more.

Volunteer Coordinator - ASPTA maintains a volunteer database based on responses from parents. At times teachers need a special talent that someone in the Arroyo Seco community can provide.

Website - ASPTA maintains the school website to ensure parents receive the most up-to-date information about Arroyo Seco, the school district, and related community events.

Welcoming Committee - ASPTA provides a welcome packet in the office for families who join our school after the first day of school. The committee also contacts the new families to say welcome.

After School Education Program (ASEP) -
An after school program which offers a variety of classes available to Arroyo Seco students. Recent classes included: Performing Arts, Art, Become an Author, Knitting.

Assemblies - Throughout the year, ASPTA selects a diverse group of professionals to visit the school and share their talents with our students.

Character Counts Coordinator - ASPTA supports the school-wide Character Counts program and helps to enhance and implement the program.

Fun Run - An annual event for all Arroyo Seco students to race the Principal. All participants receive a ribbon with the First place boy and girl for each grade level receiving a medal.

Go Green - A new program to help students learn and implement ways to help the environment.

Math Superstars - Students are given weekly worksheets which are a grade level ahead of their current grade. This program helps to challenge the students and exposes them to math concepts which will help them as the year progresses. Worksheets are graded and assigned points. Prizes are awarded based on point scale.

Reflections - This national PTA arts program invites students to create and submit entries in the categories of artwork, photography, writing, musical composition, dance, and videography. Arroyo Seco finalists go on to compete at the Council PTA level. All entries are on display at a Reflections Showcase in the MPR in the spring.

Spirit - To show school spirit, each student is encouraged to wear their school wear or blue and white every Friday. A count of spirit supporters is taken every Friday. The classrooms showing the most spirit can win a special prize.

Yearbook - An annual keepsake for each child to remember and cherish their elementary school year.

Copy Parents -
In an effort to allow teachers time to focus on the curriculum planning for their students, parents complete copy, laminate, and cutting requests for teachers each morning.

Grade Level Enrichment - ASPTA donates funds (per student dollar amount) to each grade level to provide additional funding for field trips, grade level projects, etc.

Grants - ASPTA donates funds to staff and a per student dollar amount is provided to teachers, library, computer, science, and PE. These funds are used for materials that directly support our children.
